Adult Hockey League Skill Level Overview

General player placement guidelines based on the Promenade Adult Hockey League structure

Adult hockey leagues are organized by skill level to promote balanced competition, player development, and a positive experience for all participants. The divisions below provide a general overview of the expected experience level and playing background for each level.

B Level

Advanced competitive adult hockey

High B (Levels 1 to 2)

High B is intended for players with higher end competitive experience and strong overall skill.

Typical background: Minor Pro, College D1 or D2, Junior at all tiers, and AAA hockey.

Mid to Low B (Levels 3 to 4)

Mid to Low B includes players with solid hockey backgrounds who still play at a fairly high level.

Typical background: College D2, Junior, AAA, AA, and A experience at a strong level.

C Level

Intermediate recreational adult hockey

High C (Levels 1 to 2)

High C is for players with some prior structured hockey experience who can compete at an intermediate recreational level.

Typical background: AA, A, house, and previous adult league experience.

Mid to Low C (Levels 3 to 7)

Mid to Low C is primarily for players whose experience has come mostly through adult hockey or general recreational play.

D Level

Developmental adult hockey

D1

D1 is for players who are not quite ready to compete at a C level but are above the true beginner stage.

D2

D2 is for beginners who are still learning the game and building the skills required to play.

League expectation: No taunting or showboating.

E Level

Introductory draft style beginner league

E

E is the first true beginner draft league and is designed for brand new players entering the game.

Format example: 10 game draft style pilot program.
